An A-Maize-ing Workshop: Corn Husk Weaving

November 23, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Saturday, November 23rd
1PM

Indigenous peoples in South America began the process of domesticating corn, or maize, over 7,000 years ago. Over centuries of cross-pollination and cultural exchange, indigenous communities throughout the Americas helped to create hundreds of varieties of corn. Traditionally, corn was grown not just for eating, but for making everyday items and artwork, as well. Join an IAIS Educator for a hands-on workshop in which participants will weave a seasonal corn husk craft while learning all about this “A-maize-ing” crop.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Please register online through our website. Questions? Please call (860) 868-0518 or email [email protected]. Price of participation includes materials: $20 for Non-Members, $10 for Members.
