In Person, Outdoor Event
Native peoples traditionally recognized that all beings are related and that animals and plants can be our teachers. You might be seeing and hearing increased bird activity recently. Whether hiking on a trail, or looking out your window, now is the perfect time to observe and learn from our feathered friends. Join IAIS Educator and Ecologist Susan Scherf for a guided birding hike, along with some helpful tips on how to identify resident and migratory song birds, waterfowl, and birds of prey. Along the way, Susan will discuss avian adaptations and explain what to look and listen for when trying to spot various species of birds.
Note: this event includes a moderate hike down to the Shepaug River. Please wear sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Water and bug spray are recommended.
$10 for Non-Members, $5 for Members.
