Plants from the gourd family have been cultivated in the Americas for at least 8,000 years, and in that time people developed several non-culinary uses for them. From rattles to drinkware, birdhouses to drums, dried gourds could serve numerous purposes. These days they are often used for decorative purposes, such as vases and ornaments. Join IAIS staff for a fun weekend workshop where you will learn more about this versatile vegetable while creating your own “gourd”-geous ornament to bring home.
Please note: This workshop will involve the use of wood burning equipment, so we recommend that participants be at least 7-years-old.
Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Please visit our website to register online. Questions? Please email [email protected] or call (860) 868 0518. Price of participation, including materials: $10 for IAIS Members, $20 for Non-Members.
