LHAC Lecture Series: “On the Edge of Robbins Swamp”

April 7, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

The Litchfield Hills Archaeology Club welcomes Dr. Sarah Sportman, Senior Archaeologist at Archaeological and Historical Services, Inc. and Editor of The Bulletin of the Archaeological Society of Connecticut, as she discusses the findings of her team at Site 21-85, located on the edge of Robbins Swamp in Canaan. This fascinating research uncovered over 4,500 artifacts, as well as post molds and hearths. Additionally, the application of recent science techniques has provided important dietary information about its indigenous inhabitants. Join Dr. Sportman, as she relates how this site contributes to our understanding of Native American lifeways in Northwestern Connecticut during its deep history.

Space is limited. Please call (860) 868-0518
or email [email protected] to reserve your spot.

Price: $10 for lecture and museum admission; Free for LHAC and IAIS Members.
