Putting It All Together: History Day Exhibition Tips and Tricks

January 10 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Saturday, January 10
1PM

Connecticut History Day competitions are almost here! Each year, this program engages thousands of middle- and high-school students in historical research, interpretation, and creative expression through project based learning. For students who have chosen their subject, done the research, and tied it to this year’s theme of Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History, it’s now time to have fun putting together their exhibit! Education staff from the Institute for American Indian Studies will be leading a workshop where students will learn skills that will help them to build an exhibit that reflects all of their hard work and helps them feel confident going into competition day. Students will get to explore the museum to see some elements of design in action before working together on a practice exhibit. From showing students how to use graphic design tools like Canva, to helping them pick the best glue to hold their display together, our staff will share construction tips and tricks they’ve picked up on as museum professionals.

Please note: This workshop is intended for middle and high school students who are participating in the Connecticut History Day Program, or their teachers. Participants must be affiliated with a school or educational institution in order to register.

In-person space is limited, so registration is requested. Please sign up through the Connecticut History Day program via Google forms by clicking the button below.
