Sunday Fun Day Crafts: Wampum and Stone Necklaces

February 7 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

For generations, Native people have used natural materials such as shell, stone, bone and porcupine quills to make ornamentation and jewelry. For example, in the Northeast, Native tribes often used quahog and whelk shell to create shell beads known as wampum. In this week’s workshop, participants will make their very own necklace or bracelet, incorporating semi-precious stones and wampum. With Valentine’s Day approaching, perhaps you know a special someone who would appreciate this as a gift.

Sign up for a time slot with your family and or friends. Space per time slot is limited.  Questions? Please call (860) 868-0518 or email [email protected] Cost of participation, including materials: $20 for IAIS Members, $25 for Non-Members.
