Uncivil Education: Federal Indian Boarding Schools in America

April 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Saturday, April 18 | 12:00PM

With generous support from Historic New England, the Institute for American Indian Studies has developed a new traveling exhibit called Uncivil Education: Federal Indian Boarding Schools in America. Uncivil Education addresses the history of Federal Indian Boarding schools in America and the assimilationist policies that led to their creation. Drawing directly from first hand accounts and primary documentation, this exhibit uses lived experiences to tell the hard truth of life at boarding school at this time. For a limited time before it goes on the road, UnCivil Education will be on display in our Alfred M Darlow exhibit hall. Following our annual members meeting, join IAIS Curator Karen Larkin for a presentation and discussion on the creation of this exhibit.

Space is limited and registration is requested.  Please visit our website to register online. Questions? Please email events@iaismuseum.org or call (860) 868 0518. Included in the price of museum admission: $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors and Students, $10 for Children, IAIS Members Free.
