Foraging Your Diet

May 14, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

A photograph of common chickweed featuring small, green leaves and white, star-shaped flowers,Everyone wants to have a healthy diet, which might translate to spending a little more on organic, or locally grown foods. You may be overlooking your own backyard as a source for nutritious and delicious foods! Many wild edibles are scientifically shown to contain higher and more complete amounts of the nutrients we need to live healthy and balanced lives.

Join Andy Dobos and Deneen Bernier of Three Red Trees School of Natural Living as they explore some common, edible  plants of Connecticut. Learn to identify them by shape, texture and scent, and discuss preparation methods to please your palate.  Non-strenuous hiking is required, so dress appropriately.

Fee:  $15; $12 IAIS Members.
