From the Earth and the Sea: Founders’ Clambake

September 7, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Founders’ Clambake- 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

At this annual event we give thanks to the many visitors, volunteers, members, and supporters who have helped to make our museum a success for more than forty years!

Savor local indigenous foods of lobsters, clams, corn, and potatoes while enjoying drumming and dancing by the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers. After you eat, get up on your feet to join in the dancing!

Prior to our Clambake, we are offering a special event at the museum (38 Curtis Road, Washington, CT) This new special event is our Backstory Tour

Backstory Tour – 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Objects tell a story, the story of the people and cultures that created and used them. For this special occasion, join collections staff for a memorable visit into the depths of the IAIS vault for an intimate view and discussion of some of the lesser-seen objects in our extensive collection. After the tour, join in the conversation with members of The Thunderbird Dancers for a special pre-performance discussion of the importance of dancing, regalia and music to indigenous peoples.
