Wednesday January 25th, 7:00pm

Looking to expand your reading list and discuss a variety of issues and topics important to Native people? If so, join our virtual book club As They Speak: Native Voices in Today’s Literature. Based on a variety of topics and featuring a range of genres, all of the books we will be reading have been written by contemporary Native authors. Winter is “a time for stories” in many indigenous communities, so we will be reading and discussing Gichigami Hearts: Stories and Histories from the Misaabekong by Linda LeGarde Grover (Anishinaabe). Misaabekong, the place of the giants, refers to the lands around what is now known as Duluth, Minnesota. Set against this backdrop, the lives chronicled in this book unfoldsome in myth, some in long-ago times, some in an imagined present, and some in the author’s family historyall with a deep and tenacious bond to the land. Join the virtual conversation hosted by IAIS Staff via ZOOM.

In order to have a more intimate conversation, space is limited.
