Sunday Fun Day Workshop – Birch Trees: Peeling Back the Layers

March 17 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Sunday, March 17th
1:00PM – 3:00PM

The IAIS Education Department frequently offers family-friendly educational workshops on Sunday afternoons.  This year, many of our Sunday Fun Day workshops feature the teachings of trees and the power of plants, which indigenous communities have been carefully stewarding for thousands of years. For this month’s workshop, we’re focusing on the birch tree. From white birch, with its papery thin bark, to the aromatic black birch, these trees have had myriad uses in Native communities throughout North America.  Sip locally sourced birch tea while making a birch bark craft project and learning about the cultural significance of birch trees in indigenous communities.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Please visit our website to register online. Questions? Please call (860) 868 0518 or email [email protected]. Price of participation: $10 for IAIS Members, $20 for Non-Members.
