Village of Outcasts Lecture with Dr. Ken Feder

February 10, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Native Americans across the Americas have interacted with, have influenced, and have been influenced by other cultures. In recognition of the history of interaction between Native Americans and African Americans in the Northeast, we welcome Dr. Ken Feder, Professor of Anthropology at CCSU, who will discuss his work uncovering the archaeology and history surrounding the Lighthouse Village in Barkhamsted. In his book, A Village of Outcasts, Dr Feder tells the fascinating story of Native Americans, freed African American slaves, and assorted European outcasts who came together and established a settlement that thrived from 1740 to 1860. Join Dr Feder for a lively presentation and discussion, sure to shed some light on this often forgotten bit of Connecticut history.

Space is limited. Please Call (860) 868-0518 or email [email protected] to reserve your spot.

Included in the price of admission: $10 Adults; $8 Seniors; $6 Children; IAIS Members free.
