Many tribes across the country use varying geometric deigns and colors to impart meaning in patterns, such as the four directions or the elements. Join IAIS Staff and Primitive Skills Practitioner Jim Dina for an afternoon celebrating the gift of Maple Sugar. Enjoy pancakes made by the IAIS staff, local maple syrup, coffee and orange juice (served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.), and learn how Native Americans traditionally made maple syrup.  Jim will demonstrate the technique of collecting sap and boiling it down into syrup as he discusses its importance to Native American culture.  New this year: Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club's dog sledding & mushing demonstration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.!
