Litchfield Hills Archaeology Club

Looking to get into Archaeology but don’t know where to start? The Litchfield Hills Archaeology Club (LHAC) offers a setting for exchange of ideas, lectures covering a wide range of archaeology-related topics and opportunities to participate in actual digs.

Our Mission is to preserve, share and promote the Spirit of the Northeast’s First Peoples.

Your Benefits as a member of the Litchfield Hills Archaeology Club include:

  • participation in field trips,
  • free or reduced admission to LHAC’s  Archaeology Lecture series, and the Club’s Annual Summer Dig (a member’s only benefit).

2018 Activities

  • Participated in excavations at the Templeton site located in Washington Depot as a part of an archaeological field school run by Western Connecticut State University. 
  • Excavations at the Hopkins Site along North Shore Road in the Town of Warren took place July 15, 22 and August 11. LHAC investigated a portion of this important Native American site.

2019 Activities

  • Participated new excavations at the Templeton site located in Washington Depot as a part of an archaeological field school run by Western Connecticut State University. 
  • LHAC will be back at the Deer Run site to continue excavations the club had done at the site in previous field seasons.
