May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. A study conducted in 2018 by the Sovereign Body Institute concluded that 4,293 cases, with 2,306 being documented in the United States alone. With the lack of data, some people estimate the real number to be closer to 10,000 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirits.
IAIS is planning an awareness initiative in association with the Red Dress Project and requires donations of red dresses to complete it! Both solid red dresses and red dresses with patterns will be accepted. Bring your donations to the Institute, or call and see how you can help!
