The Quinnetukut Classic Mock Swim Meet

Offsite Fundraiser at the New Milford Fitness and Aquatics Club

The Institute for American Indian Studies and the New Milford Fitness and Aquatics Club are hosting the Quinnetukut Classic Mock Swim Meet on April 7th to raise funds for IAIS’ Fundraiser for Teacher Resources. With the funds raised, IAIS will buy books and other educational materials featuring the voices of Native people and expand its own resources for teachers. This will help educators meet changes in the Connecticut social studies curriculum, requiring Native American studies content in grades K-12. These changes will be implemented for the 2024-2025 school year. As many teachers may struggle due to lack of funds for quality materials, IAIS hopes to offset these costs by providing these materials to them for free or at discounted cost.
