Outdoor In Person Event

Have you ever wanted to observe the process of building a wigwam? For thousands of years, Native communities throughout the Eastern Woodlands called these dome-shaped structures “home.” Perhaps you have always wondered what resources worked best, how these resources could be harvested, or what tools were traditionally used to build them. If so, this event is your perfect chance. This summer, we are doing some repairs to the structures in our Replicated Algonkian Village. Join Griffin Kalin, IAIS Museum Educator and Traditional Skills Expert, for an interactive discussion and program about wigwam construction. Griffin will be in the village to answer your questions and discuss the science and technology behind housing and housing materials as he embarks on this ongoing process.

Pre-registration is appreciated. Please visit our website (www.iaismuseum.org ) to reserve a space through Eventbrite. Questions? Please call (860) 868-0518 or email [email protected]
